Army plea Our Girl star backs funding calls

Michelle Keegan, right, who plays Army medic Georgie Lane in BBC One’s Our Girl, has called for more funding for the Armed Forces.

The actress, appearing on BBC One’s The Andrew Marr Show, said that she agreed “100 per cent” with calls for the defence budget to be increased, adding that the Army kept Britain safe and other countries as well. Tobias Ellwood, the defence minister, said yesterday that the health of the economy was “intertwined with security”.
