Planes over London

-

SIR – Adding a third runway to Heathrow airport (report, June 4) will allow another 700 flights per day, mostly over residential east, south and west London, and expose another million people to noise.

Those living under the flight paths of Heathrow and London City are already exposed to constant noise above levels stated by the Government to cause annoyance. The most recent studies suggest that the health of those living under flight paths is severely damaged as a result.

There must be another solution. If not, the Government should level with Londoners and those in the South East and tell us where the planes will fly.
