Court rules NHS right to stop homoeopathy funds
A decision to stop NHS funding for homoeopathy was upheld by a High Court judge last night.
The British Homeopathic Association challenged a decision to stop paying the £92,000 annual cost of homoeopathic remedies. Following a four-day hearing in London, Mr Justice Supperstone dismissed the association’s case. Simon Stevens, head of the NHS, said: “There is no robust evidence to support homoeopathy which is at best a placebo and a misuse of scarce NHS funds. We strongly welcome the High Court’s decision to kick out this spurious legal challenge.”
Margaret Wyllie, BHA chairman, said: “The real losers are the patients.”
