Stanford rape case judge removed from office

-

Voters have removed a California judge from office after he sentenced a former Stanford University swimmer convicted of sexual assault to just six months’ imprisonment.

Voters opted to oust Aaron Persky, the Santa Clara county judge, in a special election that allows the public to remove state officials from office.

The judge was targeted for recall in June 2016, shortly after he sentenced Brock Turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting a young woman.
