Pursuit of Beauty: Slow Art

RADIO 4, 11.30AM

Slow Art begins with the surreal, slurping sound of a snail being gathered and prepared to take part in an art installation designed for 176 molluscs and two humans, comprising illuminated snails moving through a dark space in response to musical vibrations. This film about art that’s slow to create and slow to experience has some delightful examples, also including a 1000-year-long musical composition. If you don’t have quite that much time to spare, worry not: this programme is only half an hour long.

Lobby Land

RADIO 4, 11.00PM

 The sharply satirical post-brexit sitcom from the makers of Have I Got News For You returns to the late night comedy slot. It still has a first-rate comedy cast of Charlie Higson, Cariad Lloyd, Ryan Sampson and the miraculous vocal impressionist Lewis Macleod, but since the last series the previous star turn Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones) has been replaced by Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy, W1A). Young political editor Sam Peakes (Lovibond) is on the tail of hot political stories at Westminster.
