Rail firm hires taxis to get pupils to exams

♦a railway firm has decided to pay for taxis to ensure pupils can get to their exams on time after cancelling hundreds of trains.

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) announced in a briefing to staff that it would be providing bus and taxi services in “key locations” to support students and schools who had been affected by its new timetable.

The “key locations” include Letchworth and Hitchin in Herts, Cambridge and South Croydon.

In a letter leaked to the BBC, the company confirmed the taxi scheme would run until the end of June.
