Time to end the shouting match at Wimbledon

-

sir – Surely it’s time to ban on-court screaming at Wimbledon? It is wholly unnecessary and a complete switch-off.

On Wednesday afternoon we were treated to the yells of Angelique Kerber, as well as both players in the match between Maria Sharapova and Garbiñe Muguruza.

It doesn’t do the players any good – I’ve tried it – and it is inconsiderate to those who pay to watch the games at Wimbledon, or on television.

Coaches and the heads of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association should get a grip and deal with the situation now.

sir – I am dreading the start of Wimbledon. I fear that my enjoyment will be ruined by the commentating – or, rather, non-stop chatter – of Jim Courier and Marion Bartoli.
