Actors drop ‘darling’ in the wake of Me Too

- By Steve Bird

ACTORS have started to drop “darling” in wake of the Me Too movement, a British film star has said.

Sam Claflin, the star of Adrift, Journey’s End and The Hunger Games, said in an interview with The Telegraph Magazine, that the campaign was changing men’s attitudes with male colleagues more likely to call one another “mate”. The word “darling” has been associated with effusive actors for decades, and is said to stem from the problem people in the theatre and television industry can have remembering names.

Claflin, 31, said the Me Too movement has been a force for good, saying: “People are now observing themselves and asking was what I said to that boy or girl OK?”
