Tory Islamophobia
SIR – Last week we highlighted the problem of Islamophobia in the Conservative Party. Rather than deal with the message, Ed Husain (“Corbyn is pitting Britain’s Muslims against Jews”, Comment, June 6) has opted to shoot the messenger.
It is curious that someone who, by his own admission, was gullible enough to be indoctrinated into hating the West should now accuse the Muslim Council of Britain of the same. He makes fanciful claims about British organisations aspiring to re-establish caliphates. He makes outrageous slurs about anti-semitism among Muslims.
It says more about him and the far-right, anti-muslim tropes he chooses to deploy than it does about the real issue at hand. There is clear evidence of Islamophobia in the Conservative Party. The real question here is: when will the Conservatives choose to engage constructively on the issue of bigotry? We are waiting. Nasima Begum
