Green for danger

SIR – JS Hirst (Letters, June 6) suggests making green P plates compulsory for newly qualified drivers – but they can cause more problems than they solve.

My daughter used these for a few days, but other drivers (particularly young and male) seemed to take delight in harassing her by driving too close, passing at high speed and so on. She reverted to anonymity and there were no further problems. Nick Pope
