Man stabbed to death on Japanese bullet train

A knife attack on a Japanese bullet express train near Tokyo left one passenger dead and two others injured, police said yesterday.

Police arrested Ichiro Kojima, 22, late on Saturday after he was found lying on top of an unconscious man on the floor of the aisle. His 38-year-old victim was later pronounced dead from stab wounds. Two women in their 20s were also injured.

Police say the suspect told investigators that he was irritated and had chosen the targets at random but that the attack could have been premeditated, as the suspect was carrying multiple bladed objects.
