Search for Manchester bomber’s case resumes

Police were last night searching a rubbish tip for a suitcase belonging to Salman Abedi, the Manchester Arena bomber.

Officers first searched the tip, a Viridor Waste Management landfill site in Bury, Greater Manchester, last year in the hunt for the case.

Abedi, 22, was seen on CCTV in Manchester city centre dragging the large blue case behind him hours before the attack on May 22 last year, which left 22 dead and scores injured.

It was not used in the attack and has never been traced. Yesterday, police in blue overalls were seen in and around the site. The case is not thought to pose a risk to the public.
