PM regrets not meeting survivors of Grenfell

Theresa May has admitted her failure to meet Grenfell residents in the aftermath of the disaster made it appear as though she “did not care”.

The Prime Minister said she will “always regret” failing to go to the tower the day after the tragedy, saying her actions were “not good enough”.

In yesterday’s Evening Standard, Mrs May said: “By not meeting [residents] that day, it seemed as though I didn’t care. That was never the case.”

Thursday will mark a year since the blaze, which claimed 72 victims.
