Three bishops resign over Chilean sex abuse
Pope Francis yesterday accepted the resignation of three bishops following a child sex abuse scandal in Chile that has come to haunt his papacy.
Members of the Chilean church hierarchy are accused by victims of ignoring and covering up child abuse by Fernando Karadima, a Chilean priest, during the Eighties and Nineties. A Vatican statement named the bishops as Juan Barros, Cristian Caro Cordero and Gonzalo Duarte García de Cortázar.
