SIR – I, like Patricia Ford (Letters, June 8), am dreading the start of Wimbledon, knowing that my viewing pleasure will be ruined by commentators and pundits talking during the matches. I find this very disrespectful to the players.

I have been watching the French Open on Eurosport, where there is an option to watch the games as though you are in the stadium, with the noise of the crowd and the umpire – but no commentator.

I know it is a subscription channel but I think it is money well spent. If only the BBC would do the same. Trisha Doggrell

SIR – When are tennis commentators going to realise that every point in a game is as important as any other?

For example, on the first point of a game, what a difference between “Love – 15” and “15 – Love”. Paul Buckland
