Kushners earn £61m from private business
IVANKA TRUMP and Jared Kushner earned at least £61million from their businesses while serving as senior White House advisers last year, according to financial disclosures.
The pair have both divested themselves from day-to-day control of their multiple business operations while in the White House, where they act as unpaid advisers to the president.
But this has not stopped their earning power. Mr Kushner and his wife have stakes in many businesses. His family real estate company has thousands of apartments in states including New Jersey and Maryland. Her clothing and accessories line is produced exclusively in foreign factories in Asia but most of her money comes from her trust that oversees her clothing brand, which paid her more than £3.7million.
She earned £3million from her stake in the Trump International Hotel in Washington and more than £1.5million in severance from the Trump Organisation. Together, the couple have a net worth of up to £600million.
Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for Abbe Lowell, ethics counsel for the couple, said the disclosures on Monday were an insufficient way to understand the nuances of their net worth.
“Since joining the administration, Mr Kushner and Ms Trump have complied with the rules and restrictions as set out by the Office of Government Ethics,” he said.
