M&S misled shoppers with Christmas ad
Marks & Spencer misled customers over its claim that it was “the only supermarket where Christmas dinner costs less than last year”, the Advertising Standards Authority has ruled.
Last December’s advert compared the costs of different quality items – a fresh turkey and a “luxury” cake in 2016, with a frozen turkey and a “cheaper alternative” cake in 2017.
An M&S spokesman said: “We’re disappointed by the ruling [and] we believe we made the differences between the 2016 and 2017 baskets clear.”
