Blooming annoying
SIR – John Barbrook (Letters, June 12) objects to the mispronunciation of anemone. It is almost as irritating as the misspelling of fuchsia as fuschia.
Dr Leonhart Fuchs must be turning in his grave.

SIR – The pronunciation of anemone as anenome sets my teeth on edge.
My grandmother – a teacher in the Edwardian era, when spelling mattered – made me endlessly recite “Annie Moany” to illustrate that the M came between the two Ns.
