WORLD SERVICE, 11.30AM

With the world’s attention fixed on Russia with the World Cup kicking off tomorrow, broadcaster Peter White visits Moscow in The City Revealed, the latest instalment of his series exploring the sounds of the cities of the world. Born without sight, White tunes into the distinctive aural character of each place he encounters, bringing it vividly to life through radio. Moscow, he says, is “satisfyingly noisy”, and he tries out the public transport system, speaks to locals about the World Cup, and attends a party for bikers.

Matt Berry Interviews

RADIO 4, 11.00PM

Comedian Matt Berry possesses a magnificently purring voice, which he uses here to great effect in a new series sending up the “revealing and sometimes surprising” genre of celebrity radio interviews. You know the sort – the ones which verge annoyingly on faux-psychoanalytical while being cosy-cosy and deferential. Purporting to be a lost archive interview of Uri Geller from 1974, all is not quite as it seems in the bizarre conversation that ensues. Topics under discussion include childhood, spying, torture and Geller’s magical powers.
