Catering trolley breaks flight attendant’s leg

-

A catering cart that careered along the centre aisle of a plane during landing broke the leg of one of the cabin crew.

The man saw it hurtling towards him and tried to avoid it, noted the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). After the Ryanair Boeing 737 came to a standstill at Stansted airport he was taken to hospital. There were no passengers on board at the time.

An engineer found no fault with the cart’s safety latch. Aviation rules state cabin crew must be in assigned seats for landing and this was not the case in the December incident. Ryanair said the AAIB made no recommendations.
