Billed for hospital food
SIR – Hugh Williams (Letters, June 12) suggests that patients in NHS hospitals should pay a nominal sum to cover the cost of the food provided.
He might be interested to know that, three years ago, I spent a week in hospital in Berlin. Having my European Health Insurance Card, I was treated as though I were a German patient. This included receiving a bill for food: €10 per day. I thought it an excellent plan and one that should be adopted in Britain. Wendy Attridge
