Sorry, Harry – here is my new favourite royal couple
This week, the Duchess of Sussex made her solo debut alongside the Queen in Cheshire, and quickly showed that she had slotted right into the monarchy.
The Queen, who was wearing green for Grenfell, looked absolutely delighted to be hanging out with her new grand-daughterin-law at the official opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge. The pair giggled and chatted, giving the impression of being NBFFS (new best friends forever, in case you were wondering). Indeed, such is the strength of their relationship that the Queen even swept aside protocol and let an unsure Meghan into a waiting car first.
The ladies had travelled up together overnight on the Royal Train, an invitation that hasn’t even been extended to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – or to Prince Harry.
I’m fascinated to find out about their right royal sleepover. Did they paint their nails and gossip about their husbands while catching up on a good boxset on Netflix? Were there face masks and matching dressing gowns?
My favourite new royal couple is now Meghan and the Queen.
