Choosing your school

-

SIR – Caroline Barr (Letters, June 18), discussing the potential “penalisation” of the privately educated, writes that “no child decides” whether they receive this kind of education – but this is exactly what I did.

My parents planned to send me to the same public school that my elder brother had attended, but I told them I was happy to attend the local grammar school. Of the 35 other boys in my junior school class, 32 of them would also go there.

It was a very good school and I have never regretted my decision. Simon Baumgartner
