Campaigners left red-faced over pub’s ‘fake’ animal racing
ANIMAL rights campaigners who launched a petition to get a pig and lamb racing event scrapped have been left red-faced after discovering it was for humans in fancy dress.
The Swan Inn pub in Stalbridge, Dorset, advertised the fun event as part of its Ale and Gin Festival on June 30.
They even said children could ride the “pigs and lambs”, which will be adults in outfits racing on all-fours.
But the campaign group Lambentations got the wrong end of the stick and launched an online petition calling for it to be stopped, which was signed by 14,992 people, before the pub confirmed that the racing was for humans.
