Sins of the parents
SIR – A policy of evicting the families of violent criminals and gang leaders from their council houses (report, June 23) would appear fraught with difficulty.
In cases where these criminals have not been incarcerated, presumably their families – who may be entirely innocent – would be made homeless if alternative accommodation could not be found. And where children are involved, one can only assume that they would be taken into care.
Assuming that both the criminal and any family members find alternative housing, is it then not simply a case of moving a problem from one place to another? David Edwards
