SIR – I hesitate to question the estimable Bryony Gordon (Features, June 23), but is she right to say that world leaders who don’t care would be better off running a Mcdonald’s franchise than running a country?

After all, the owner of a Mcdonald’s has to deliver exactly what his customers asked for, on time, and without increasing the price while it is being prepared. Nick Cowley
