Scientists in hospital after chemical spill
Five scientists were airlifted to hospital yesterday after a chemical spill at an Oxford University research laboratory.
The accident at the Chemical Research Laboratory in Mansfield Road caused breathing difficulties for those affected.
South Central Ambulance Service’s hazardous material handling team attended and the scientists were taken to John Radcliffe Hospital for tests and treatment.
A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire service crews and in-house research specialist staff made the scene safe.” It is not known what the spilt compound was.
