End of the student lie-in: 8am start for lecture

-

A university has upset some of its students over plans to start lectures at 8am.

Durham University’s business and law courses are so well subscribed that this autumn’s intake has been split in two to be taught separately. The move means one of them will have to start outside of normal academic hours, which have always begun at 9am. “There is nothing we as a department can do about this,” a director of the law faculty wrote in an email, seen by the student newspaper Palatinate.
