Advantage Williams Briton backs down in seeding row

Heather Watson – the former British number 1 women’s tennis player – has been criticised for saying that pregnancy cannot be used to protect stars’ ranking status as it is a choice, whereas injury is not. Today, Wimbledon is to decide whether new mother Serena Williams can be seeded at the tournament. But Watson did add: “I’d say Serena is the exception.”
