Bin cycle

-

SIR – Our council recently gave us a third plastic wheelie bin for recycling waste. Now our local amenity tip is piled high with unwanted red and blue plastic boxes that used to do the job satisfactorily. David J Hartshorn

SIR – It is difficult enough when different councils adopt different colours for recycling and domestic refuse bins (Letters, June 27).

I have just moved to Wiltshire and when I rang the county refuse collection department to inquire about bins I was informed: “It’s a black bin for domestic waste and a green bin for recycling.” And then, after a pause: “Unless you live in North Wiltshire, where it’s the other way around.” Wynne Weston-davies

Calne, Wiltshire
