As part of ongoing celebrations marking the 70th birthday of the NHS, in this edition of Great Lives with Matthew Parris, Lord Kinnock and biographer John Campbell offers a welcome opportunity to learn more about the man who bears much of the responsibility for founding our health service, politician Aneurin Bevan. There were significant hurdles involved in establishing the NHS at the very start, and Lord Kinnock argues that without Bevan’s forceful personality and vision, it may never have happened at all.
