Neolithic ritual site discovered in Suffolk
Archaeologists have uncovered a Neolithic site of international importance – just a few miles from where the hit BBC TV series Detectorists about two amateur treasure hunters was filmed.
Among the finds are wooden posts that are more than 4,000 years old and the skull of an extinct cow that may have been ritually slaughtered.
The site – believed to have been used for rituals – near Woodbridge in Suffolk, is being surveyed ahead of a plan by Scottish Power to run cables from its new offshore wind farm to the National Grid. The land is just a few miles from Framlingham, where the popular comedy series was filmed.
