Class sizes soar

-

Super-sized classes are at the highest level on record, official figures show, as secondary schools begin to feel the effects of a migrantfuelled baby boom.

Eight per cent of secondary classes have more than 30 children, the highest proportion since the Department for Education began its annual schools census in 2006. The average class size in 2018 was 21.2 students, which is the largest since 2007.
