The Crown was unfair to Duke of Edinburgh, says Fellowes
TV SERIES The Crown wasn’t fair in its portrayal of Prince Philip as the show “extrapolated rumour” and “presented it as fact”, the writer of Downton Abbey has said.
Julian Fellowes praised The Crown creator Peter Morgan but admitted he was uncomfortable with “dramatising people who are still alive”. Fellowes told Vanity Fair: “The Crown is a wonderful piece of work. It was beautifully acted, beautifully written. For me, I’m not completely comfortable with dramatising people who are still alive and still living their lives, because I think it’s possible to be unfair. And in the second series, I didn’t think it was fair to Prince Philip, based on very little.”
In the second season, the Duke of Edinburgh is depicted as having a strained relationship with the Queen, and hints at him being unfaithful.
