RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2018

-

BBC TWO, 9.30PM

Now as much a part of the BBC’S summer schedules as Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour, the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show will be the focus of BBC Two at 9.30pm every night this week. Gardeners’ World’s Joe Swift and broadcaster Jo Whiley (whose Radio 2 listeners can attest to her green fingers) will anchor the coverage, while Carol Klein, Adam Frost, Arit Anderson and Nick Bailey will offer expert insights into the event’s horticultural highlights.

They begin with a look at the best of the show gardens and exhibits in the floral marquee. Will the heatwave have affected the displays, and how will they reflect this year’s themes of health and well-being? Later in the week, there is the Best Show Garden and Best Floral Exhibit announced (Wednesday will see), and this is followed on Thursday by a look at gardens influenced by both Roger Hargreaves’s Mr Men books and the subject of social media (the mind boggles). For Friday’s final instalment, the team will offer advice on how the ideas demonstrated in the gardens and the flowers (dahlias and hydrangeas in particular) on display can be adapted for our own green spaces.
