Separate ways
Victoria Pendleton, the Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist, has announced that she is separating from her husband Scott Gardner after a 10-year relationship. The couple, who married in 2013, first met when Gardner was a performance scientist and coach for Teamgb cycling. The announcement comes after Pendleton had to give up on her quest to climb Mount Everest in May on health grounds. The 37-year-old said in a statement on social media: “After 10 years together I am very sad to say that Scott and I have grown apart. Despite our best efforts in trying to make our marriage work, we have come to the decision to go our separate ways.”
