Gang denies torture and murder of shop owner

A 74-year-old jewellery shop owner was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by a gang who dumped him in a country lane after beating a safe code out of him, a court heard.

One member of the gang is accused of entering Ramniklal Jogiya’s shop in Belgrave Road, Leicester, on January 24, but was unable to open the safe due to a 12-hour time-lock.

Thomas Jervis, Callan Reeve, Charles Mcauley have all admitted kidnap and robbery but deny murder and manslaughter. Javon Roach denies charges of murder, manslaughter, robbery and kidnapping.

The trial continues at Birmingham Crown Court.
