Clarke’s parents proud

-

The parents of Jay Clarke, one of Britain’s rising stars, have spoken of their pride after he took his opponent to five sets before losing his first singles match.

Speaking after 19-year-old Clarke, from Derby, lost to Ernests Gulbis, the Latvian world number 138, his father said his son used to dream of playing at SW19.

Erol Clarke said: “We are both very proud, he’s worked hard. It’s always been his dream.”
