‘Inner city’ fear Tory MP runs for London mayor
A Tory MP who was accused of “dog-whistle politics” over a controversial election leaflet has put himself forward as a candidate in the race to be the next mayor of London.
Andrew Rosindell, who represents Romford in north London, yesterday submitted his nomination papers for the 2020 mayoral elections, against Sadiq Khan, the Labour incumbent.
In March, he faced criticism over a leaflet produced by Conservatives in his Havering constituency that warned London suburbs could become increasingly “inner city”, with the union flag removed from public buildings.
