Teenage boy dies after lake rescue operation

A 16-year-old boy died after being pulled from a lake yesterday.

Emergency services attended Colwick Country Park in Nottingham around 2.05pm after reports that the teenager was in trouble.

He was found more than an hour later after a search operation that included underwater diving teams as well as ambulance, fire and helicopter crews.

The boy, who last night had not been named, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but was pronounced dead just after 4pm.

In a statement, Notts Police said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
