Gay woman wins spousal visa to live in Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s top court ruled yesterday that a lesbian from Britain should be granted a spousal visa in a judgment that could open the door for expatriate same-sex partners to move to the Chinese-ruled city.
The woman, identified only as QT, sued the director of immigration after she was denied a spousal visa – which grants resident status and allows her to work. “I won’t feel like a second-class citizen any more and I can have basic rights like anyone else,” she said.
