Teachers laughed about abusing pupils

-

♦a teacher at a top private school told a pupil “It’s OK, I’ve had a vasectomy” before raping her, a court has heard.

James Husband, a teacher at Christ’s Hospital School, was convicted yesterday of one count of rape and five of indecently assaulting a girl as young as 14 between 1990 and 1994.

He was tried at Hove Crown Court alongside friend and colleague Gary Dobbie, who was found guilty of 15 charges involving multiple offences against six boys and two girls as young as 12 between 1998 and 2001.

The court was told the pair would laugh about their exploits.

Husband told a 15-year-old pupil: “It’s OK, I’ve had a vasectomy,” before launching the attack, the court heard. Dobbie later indecently assaulted the same pupil. The pair will be sentenced later. Five teachers from the school in Sussex have now been convicted after complaints made by 22 former pupils.
