Stabbed Essex man was victim of targeted attack

A young man stabbed to death in Essex on Saturday was the victim of a targeted attack, police believe. The 21-year-old, who was knifed in the chest, died in Basildon Hospital.

A murder investigation has been launched after police were called to reports of an injured man in Little Garth, near Pitsea Road, Pitsea, around 8.45pm on Saturday.

Officers continue to look for clues at the scene, which is expected to remain cordoned off throughout today.

Det Insp Stuart Truss said: “We believe this was a targeted and isolated incident and there’s no risk to the wider public.”
