3.8m watching victory online is a BBC record

England’s victory over Sweden on Saturday was the most live-streamed BBC show ever, viewing figures have revealed.

A total of 3.8million watched online while almost 20million viewers tuned in to BBC One to watch the team progress to the semi-finals following a 2-0 win on Saturday.

It received an 89 per cent share of the TV audience at its peak.

However, 23.6million tuned in to ITV on Tuesday to see England’s penalty shoot-out win over Colombia.
