VW Group “defeat device” recalls

A July 7 article referred to allegations made by British drivers that their cars have experienced technical problems following remedial work on engines implicated in the emissions test “defeat device” installed in VW Group vehicles. Volkswagen UK has in fact received 17,000 complaints about such problems, not 84,000 as stated. We apologise for the error.
