This sharp, sleazy and agreeably loose adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s modern classic has maintained the pizzazz while avoiding the self-conscious “cool” of the otherwise fine Nineties John Travolta vehicle. As the series passes halfway, we find loan shark Miles Daly (Chris O’dowd) trying to spend time with his family when an unwelcome visit arrives on set.
