Why do so many men wear hats in the Minster?

sir – Apart from the outstanding architecture, one thing caught my eye on a recent visit to York Minster: the number of men wearing hats inside, even on a guided tour with a Minster officer. Mostly, these are people old enough to know better.

Perhaps I have missed a relaxation in the rules – or spend too much time in Italy.
