Temple discovered after Mexican earthquake
A devastating earthquake that struck central Mexico last September has led to a fascinating discovery: the remains of a rain god temple from the year 1150 within an Aztec pyramid.
The temple was located inside the Teopanzolco pyramid in the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos state.
As a result of the earthquake, “the pyramid suffered considerable rearrangement of the core of its structure,” said Barbara Koniecza, the Mexican archaeologist. The quake, on September 19, killed 369 people.
