Looming threat
A melting iceberg has become grounded close to the tiny island of Innaarsuit (pop 180), off the west coast of Greenland. Authorities are warning residents to move to higher ground as heavy rain is increasing the danger of the iceberg breaking up, causing a tsunami. Karl Petersen, head of the local council, said: “We are very concerned and afraid.” Last year, a similar event killed four people on a nearby island.
