Nurse who proposed ‘topless rowing’ struck off

-

♦a nurse who sent a married female colleague an X-rated video of himself and suggested she try “topless rowing” has been struck off.

The woman’s furious husband discovered the video of David Jones on her mobile phone, along with a lewd message detailing how he wanted to have sex with her.

Mr Jones was struck off the medical register after revelations of a decade of inappropriate behaviour at Ashford hospital in Kent. The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard how he once wrapped hospital cables around the wrists of a colleague and called her his “bondage paddy”.

The panel chair, William Nelson, said: “His misconduct formed a pattern of multiple incidents spanning 11 years. Despite repeated warnings he continued to behave inappropriately.”

The hearing, in London, heard that in 2006 Mr Jones slid his hands between a colleague’s legs while she drove him to the hospital. He also sent her a video of himself performing a solo sex act.

The woman told how the footage, found by her husband, had “come out of the blue” and she was “shocked.”

Mr Nelson said: “When she saw Mr Jones at work on the following Monday he had a big smile on his face. She told him never to contact her again. When she told him that her husband had seen the video, he looked shocked and apologised.”

Mr Jones, who worked for East Kent NHS Trust from September 1999 to June 2017, was found guilty of sexually motivated misconduct.
